1938년 시애틀 출신의 윌리엄 볼컴은 피아노, 실내악, 오페라, 교향곡 등 전통 클래식은 물론이고재즈의 전신이라 할 수 있는 래그타임을 인용하여 클래식 작품에 접목하면서 형식과 틀에 갇히지 않은 다양한 스타일의 작품을 작곡하여 1988년 퓰리처상, 그래미상 2회 수상, 미국 국민예술훈장, 디트로이트 음악상, 2007 뮤지컬 아메리카 올해의 작곡가상을 수상하였다.

아믈랭은 볼컴의 래그타임(피아노 래그, 클래식 래그)을 총망라한 작품집에서 독특한 멜로디, 리듬감을 자유자재로 소화해내며 이번에도 자신만의 스타일로 래그타임의 음악적 경지를 한 단계 높이는 결과물을 내놓고 있다.

캐나다 몬트리올 출생의 바리톤 제랄드 핀리는 캠브리지 대학의 킹스 칼리지와 런던 왕립음악 칼리지를 졸업하고 모차르트의 돈 지오반니와 피가로의 결혼에 정평이 나 있는 바리톤이다.

반주를 맡고 있는 줄리어스 드레이크와는 2008년 바버, 2009년 슈만 시인의 사랑, 2011년 브리튼으로 총 3번의 그라모폰 어워드 위너를 수상하였으며 Hyperion에서 첫 번째로 발매한 슈베르트 3대 가곡집 중 겨울 여행(CDA68034)이 2014 그라모폰 어워드 솔로 보컬 부문 노미네이트& 프레스토 올해의 레코딩 노미네이트, 캐나다 주노 어워드 위너를 차지했고 두 번째로 발매한 백조의 노래(CDA68288)는 2020 그라모폰 어워드 솔로 보컬 부문에 노미네이트되어 이번에 대미를 장식할 세 번째 레코딩에 귀추가 주목된다.
